LOCATION ** The property lies in the popular and sought after village of Uffington, which lies at the foot of the Berkshire downs, in the heart of the Vale of the White Horse. The village benefits from local amenities, including a pre- school and primary school, village hall, general store/ post office, public house and sports clubs. Uffington, mentioned in the Domesday survey of 1086, is dominated by the beautiful 13 century church known as the "Cathedral of the Vale", together with a wealth of period properties. Uffington is well placed for access to Faringdon, Oxford, Didcot, Abingdon and Swindon, with regular fast trains serving London Paddington from both Didcot (15 miles) and Swindon (12 miles). The national motorway network is easily accessible via the A34/M4 and M40.  

HISTORY ** The Old Bakehouse dates back to 1670, with evidence of the bakery still providing bread for the village as recently as 1916. It is part of a number of services that were offered in the High Street including a forge, police house, wheelright and public house. The original baking kilns are still in situ to the rear of the house, whilst the oven recesses still visible in the kitchen. The Stables provided accommodation for the cart horses to collect flour from nearby mills.
