Description

“What initially drew us to Waterlilies was the opportunity to experience communal and sustainable living in a new-build home. The flat itself is a beautiful, light and low-energy home built to passive house standards (MVHR, triple glazing, excellent insulation and so on). A really cool thing about Water Lilies is that it's powered by a microgrid, which comprises solar panels across the whole site, and a big Tesla battery that stores any excess electricity. The microgrid is managed by an electrical company that was set up specifically for the site and after five years residents of Water Lilies will have the chance to buy the company and could then be in charge of setting their own prices.”.

Water Lillies is the first eco-development of its kind in the UK where residents had the opportunity to design a sustainable home in a wonderful community in Bristol. Situated in Kings Weston in the North of Bristol and on the edge of a conservation area is development of 33 homes based around a community hub which can be accessed by all residents. The development is close to both Blaise Castle and Kings Weston House, both of which are wonderful places to walk and explore the countryside. Further afield the development has easy access to both the M5 and M4 for routes out of the city

This is a light, spacious, two bed flat at the one of a kind Water Lilies eco-development built by the award-winning development company, Bright Green Futures. It was designed by Marshall and Kendon, the same architects that designed the Bristol Lido. It’s also home to an amazing community filled with homes that are all net carbon zero, built using sustainable materials and passive house principles which serves to create a really comfortable, low-cost living space. The flat is almost brand new and has many great features such as triple glazing and a Mechanical Heat Recovery Ventilation system. It also has a private patio that overlooks the community garden that is starting to come into its own with the sunny weather and a wonderful group of neighbours to share it with.
Nearby is also the community hub that will become a focal point for the residents, and is under shared ownership by everyone who lives at Water Lilies. It will be the venue for a range of events, workshops and activities that serve and are decided on by everyone at Water Lilies as well as being somewhere to relax and unwind.

Living in Water Lilies offers the chance to be a part of a very social and supportive community with a shared vision of sustainable living. To find out more about the Water Lilies development, see Bright Green Futures website:
