Description

This 50% shared ownership has been lovingly refurbished from top to bottom and benefits from only a £160 per month rent on the other share!

Why buy this home?

It's easy to see how much finding their perfect family home meant to the current owners. What's more obvious is the love and attention to detail they have put into the property since buying it five years ago.

Unlike most three bedroom shared ownership houses that have premiums purely for the privilege of being able to buy one, this house has been refurbished from top to bottom. "It was a mess to be honest!" reminisce the owners. Job number one was to tackle the kitchen. "Anyone with young children knows the importance of having an organised kitchen! Having somewhere for the little ones to sit and eat meals was crucial".

Next was a new combi-boiler in 2016 along with new double radiators. It turns out replacing the kitchen brought out their creative sides, as next came the removal of one wall and installation of another. "Originally the downstairs was completely open-plan, but we wanted a separate lounge for cosy winter evenings". So a wall with double doors was put up to create the two separate living spaces. The wall that was removed was the airing cupboard (which was no longer needed due to the new combi-boiler) on the landing to create a larger master bedroom, providing more space for those ever-important wardrobes.

Next was for all the rooms to be decorated, but not before the walls were re-skimmed first. New flooring could then be laid without the threat of a rogue paint drip on the carpets! Lastly was their favourite addition; a glass-roofed conservatory. Whilst the extra space was extremely practical with a growing family, being able to open the doors on to the garden was their favourite feature. "The kids love it in there. It's their playroom and the glass roof is like a panoramic roof in a car - it keeps them entertained for hours counting clouds! For us it's great as it means the lounge is kept nice and tidy!"

The south-west facing garden has been landscaped so that sunny days can be spent enjoying it, rather than maintaining it. A Summer House was also installed with light and power, ideal for those who work from home or simply as an area to sit in the shade and keep a watchful eye on the kids. There is also a storage area for your lawnmower and garden equipment. The fence to the driveway was also cleverly pushed back to create enough space for two cars to fit on the drive.

"I genuinely believe we are in one of the best areas in Milton Keynes if you have kids. There aren't many places that are within a mile of Centre:MK, Willen Lake, Campbell Park, Gulliver’s Land and also have the Grand Union Canal running through it with stunning walks alongside. The 'Rhino Park' is great for toddlers too due to the multi-coloured rhino and of course the ever popular Jeep!"

You must be pre-qualified prior to your viewing being confirmed. Milton Keynes Council's criteria to be eligible for a shared ownership property are as follows:

1. You must not own another property in the UK or must be able to prove you are in the process of selling your only property
2. Your combined household income must not exceed £80,000

More about the location...

Situated to the north-east of Central Milton Keynes, Downhead Park is one of the smaller estates as it is dissected by the Grand Union Canal. This provides the picturesque Canal Broadwalk which offers stunning views and access to both Great Linford Park and Campbell Park. A short walk away is Willen Lake that has something for every member of the family. From Wakeboarding and Kneeboarding to the new inflatable Aqua Parc to the serene Peace Pagoda and The Tree Cathedral, you will be spoilt for choice and constantly going back for more.

Primary schooling is provided by the nearby Downs Barn School and Brooksward School in Neath Hill, both of which has Good Ofsted ratings. Local shops are situated in Neath Hill and consist of a Co-op with ATM, Post Office, Pharmacy, Fish & Chip Shop amongst others. The nearest Public House is The Ship Ashore in Willen, 0.7 miles and a 13 minute walk away (according to Google Maps).
