To the North there is Ingleton with shops catering for most everyday needs, pubs and primary school, beyond Kirkby Lonsdale access to the M6 and the Lake District.

From Settle proceed up the A65 towards Ingleton and Kirkby Lonsdale, approximately nine miles from Settle and soon after passing Newby look out for the signposted right turn to Cold Cotes (one mile). Follow the road into the village and at the post box turn right where Brackenber Cottage will be seen on the left hand side.
