RUSWARP
Ruswarp lies just 1.8 miles from Whitby. This charming village has a railway station, from where trains operating on the Esk Valley Line regularly stop, and the Heritage Steam Trains from Pickering and Whitby pass through. Amenities include a Primary school, church and local shops - the most well-known being the A.P Jackson Butchers which is known to many who live in Ruswarp, Whitby and the surrounding villages as being the best butchers in the whole area. The Bridge Inn is a friendly pub serving food and overlooking both the river and railway line. The village lies on the national hiking trail and the walk to Whitby is undemanding along a stone pannier way named ' Monks Trod'. The 'Cinder Track' also provides wonderful walks through the surrounding areas and downstream you will find the impressive 120 ft Viaduct that used to carry the Scarborough to Whitby railway line. Esk Leisure is popular with tourists and consists of a childrens Indoor Play area where families can enjoy pottery painting and laser tag. Opposite Esk Leisure you will find 'Ruswarp Pleasure Boats' where customers have been renting rowing boats to explore the river since 1874. All in all this area offers the best of both worlds being a tranquil riverside village and yet having ample amenities and leisure activities on offer. Its located, a pleasant walk from the heart of Whitby Town, means this village will appeal to, and suit, a wide variety of buyers.
