Description

This late Victorian/early Edwardian detached family home is in an ideal location. It is just a four minute walk to Tonbridge station where trains to London take about half an hour and it is also close to supermarkets, pubs and shops as well as good primary schools and Outstanding grammar schools. No expense has been spared in updating this property including a bespoke detached office and gym, but it still retains period features including high ceilings, picture rails, the staircase, panelled doors, dado rails and original fireplaces. Externally it includes high chimneystacks, ridge tiles and finials, box bay and sash windows. There is a large garage and a path bordered by a lawn leading to the front entrance and hallway with Pugin style floor tiles and a store cupboard.
A dual aspect drawing room includes access to the garden and a wood surround fireplace with a log burner, while the superb dual aspect open plan living room/kitchen has engineered oak flooring with underfloor heating. In the seating area there is a box bay window, a cast iron fireplace and bookcases while the dining area has wall panelling. The stunning kitchen features a breakfast bar and shaker style units with quartz worktops housing Miele appliances and the adjacent utility room has access to a cloakroom.
The galleried landing includes a corniced ceiling and dado rails and leads to the chique family bathroom and four double bedrooms including one dual aspect with fitted cupboards, another with a fireplace and a bay window, a guest room and the dual aspect principal suite with built in wardrobes, a fitted dressing room and a contemporary shower room.
The cedar clad outbuilding includes electrics, lighting, heating, internet access and bi-fold doors to a patio and is presently configured as a large office with engineered oak flooring and access to a garden shed and an equally spacious gym with a mat flooring and plumbing facilities to include a shower and toilet if required. The garden is laid to lawn with tree and shrub borders, a terraced seating area and a pergola covered paved dining area all surrounded by close board fencing.
What the Owner says:
What the owners say: It was the location that attracted us to as we needed to be close to the station and excellent schools. During our time here we have installed the cedar building, replaced the heating and plumbing, put in new bathrooms and reconfigured the downstairs to create the open plan living and kitchen space, while upstairs has been adjusted to create the luxurious principal suite.
It is a six minute stroll into the town centre with its independent shops, salons, theatres, bars and restaurants and the Angel Leisure Centre. There are good primary schools and we are close to Outstanding grammar schools, while Tonbridge School provides the EM Forster theatre and leisure club with facilities available to external club members. There are also golf clubs as well as football, rugby, tennis and cricket clubs.
