Description
Downland Cottage is an attractive victorian family house built of red brick under a slate roof and has been extended over the years to provide versatile family accommodation over two floors. The house offers attractive formal living rooms to the front, with more flexible accommodation to the rear, which some purchasers may look to re-model to provide larger modern family accommodation opening on the large rear garden. In recent years this space provided a ground floor guest suite with its own entrance. Overall the accommodation currently comprises good hall, sitting room with fireplace, dining room, kitchen, good larder, utility room, drying room, cloakroom, double bedroom, generous bathroom with separate shower and large study, on the ground floor. The first floor offers four bedrooms and two bathrooms, one being en suite. The house is double glazed and enjoys oil fired central heating.
Outside, the property enjoys gardens to the front and rear. To the front, there is a pretty area of lawn with mature beds and borders and a gravel drive running down to the rear of the house. There is a detached garage with good sized lean-to and generous parking. To the rear of the house is a large area of garden predominantly laid to lawn with summerhouse and large garden shed. There are various mature trees and shrubs providing good levels of privacy.
Bottlesford is a small rural hamlet situated south of the larger village of Woodborough. The village is situated in the heart of the Vale of Pewsey with its gently rolling, ancient countryside and Kennet & Avon canal. This area offers some of the best walking and riding available in this enchanting and unspoilt rural area. There is a beautiful village church and strong local community. Unusual for a small rural village, Woodborough & Bottlesford have a thriving range of facilities including busy garden centre with pick your own soft fruit, cafe/shop and collection of small independent retailers. There is a well regarded village primary school and popular village pub 'The Seven Stars'. The larger village of Pewsey with its broad range of amenities and express rail connections to London Paddington (70 mins) is within a 3 1/2 mile drive. The M4 & M3 (A303) are within a half hour drive.
Services: Mains water, electricity and drainage.
Council Tax: Wiltshire Council, Devizes. Tel: 0300 456 0100.
Directions: From the centre of Pewsey take the A345 towards Marlborough. After passing the mini roundabout take the first left turn into Wilcot Road.
