Blackhall Colliery is 20 miles North of Middlesborough, 15 miles south of Sunderland and 26 miles south of Newcastle upon Tyne (via A19), and 13 miles East of Durham city (via A181).
Blackhall Rocks Beach, a scenic stretch of natural coastline forming part of Durhams Wildlife Trust reserve, is located just off the A1086 (and Station Road).
